On May 28, 2009, CECD celebrated
its tenth year anniversary. Among the guests were CECD faculty, students, and alumni, and state and NSWC officals including Chancellor William E. Kirwan, Maryland Sen. Thomas ‘‘Mac” Middleton, Del. John Bohanan, along with NSWC Technical Director Steve Mitchell and Indian Head Division’s Technical Director, Dr. Robert Gates. U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski was represented by her aide, Mr. Dick Myers.

Professor Anand opened the event and welcomed all gathered. Other speakers included Chancellor Brit Kirwan; Sen. Mac Middleton; Mrs. Mary Lacey, Deputy Program Director, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense; and Mr. Steve Mitchell. Their speeches were followed by technical presenations of CECD Professors Don DeVoe, Satyandra Gupta, and James Short and Mr. Darrin Krivitsky, Head of the Applied Technology Directorate, NSWC IH. Lunch speakers included CECD Professor Millard Firebaugh; Professor Melvin Bernstein, Vice President for Research at the University of Maryland; and Mr. Dick Myers, Special Assistant to Sen. Barbara Mikulski. Professor Anand was presented with two certificates of special recognition for the center from Sen. Mikulski and Sen. Benjamin Cardin.
