Prof. Anand Honored by Maryland Senate

		On April 4, 2009, the Maryland Senate passed a resolution to honor Professor Davinder K. Anand for his "vision and leadership in advancing the field of mechanical engineering through collaborative research and quality academic programs and establishing the Center for Energetic Concepts Development and The Energetics Technology Center."
	Prof. Anand has had a long and distinguished scholarly and academic career of 45 years in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland. He has also served as the Chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Department for 10 years. He published 6 books and 185 journal papers. He ran a highly successful engineering firm early in his career and then mentored a generation of Mechanical Engineering students at the University of Maryland. He established CECD in 1998 and ETC in 2006. Governor Martin O’Malley acknowledged Prof. Anand’s contributions to the State of Maryland by declaring Saturday, 4 April 2009, Dr. Davinder Anand Day.
