CECD Researchers Present at the 26th Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference
College Park, MD, May 3, 2010
Engineers play an important role in devising new technologies to expand and enhance the capabilities of physicians, dentists, and other health care professionals—and ultimately to improve the quality of life for people around the world. From April 30 to May 2, 2010, the Fischell Department of Bioengineering and the A. James Clark School of Engineering hosted the 26th Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference. The conference program consisted of 168 oral presentations and 21 poster presentations with approximately 250 registered participants. Among the presenters were CECD researchers Prof. Bala Balachandran, Prof. William Fourney, and Mr. Marcelo Valdez, who presented in the traumatic brain injury (TBI) session (Session I). Other presenters in the same session included Prof. Gary Fiskum and Prof. Rao Gullapalli from the University of Maryland Medical School in Baltimore. Both collaborate with CECD on TBI research projects.
