A CECD team led by Prof. Millard S. Firebaugh, RADM USN (ret.), has concluded a business case analysis study of the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Indian Head Division, analyzing its role in the Navy and DoD, as a Center of Excellence in energetics. The team included CECD faculty and leaders from industry, state government and the military.

The study arose from discussions between the NSWC, CECD, and ETC leaders. Its
goal was to provide an anlysis of NSWC IH that would serve as a basis for a plan to enhance IH's value as a critical resource to the Navy, DoD, and the nation. The business of NSWC IH was assessed and actions were recommended to ensure that this vital technical capability endures.
