Blast Injury: Wave Interactions with Visco-Elastic Systems
PI: Prof. Bala Balachandran
In this work, blast wave interactions with soft tissue matter are being examined. Reduced-order models of the skull-brain system are being considered with attention to nonlinear viscoelastic properties of the brain matter. These models are to be used for investigating stress/strain localization phenomena which could potentially be responsible for blast induced brain injuries.
