College Park, MD, June 23, 2010

On June 23, 2010, CECD in collaboration with the Maryland Energy Research Center (UMERC) hosted a DOD-DOE workshop on operational energy needs and capabilities. The purpose of this meeting was to explore DOD's critical, mission-driven energy needs and DOE's capabilities and potential to address those needs.

Representatives from each of the Services presented their operational energy contexts and discussed some of their specific problems. Important points were the large scale of DOD operational energy use, and the diversity of end use technology applications and requirements, leading to the need to develop systems approaches to the identified problems.
